The Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) is a government-owned coal mining company in Telangana, India, which is located at Kothagudem, and takes its legacy in operating close to 48 mines which come under the category of both underground and opencast and this is being spread across 6 districts in Telangana viz. Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Prof. Jayashankar-Bhupalpalli, Bhadradri-Kothagudem which is in Khammam.
In the previous instance, when some of them tested the previously used measurement tool underground, many of these devices exploded because they used to carry the alkaline battery to power the device. As one can understand that the temperature in the underground is always high and the usage of an alkaline battery is not suitable.
The department instead wanted to replace these alkaline-fed batteries to the lithium-ion battery, which is much more compatible with the device, and was much safer to be used for a prolonged time.
The department of excavation of coal mines were in a dilemma of finding the laser distance measurement of 50 meters underground in the coal mine site. They wanted a device with comes with additional features such as the accuracy of less than 5 mm, IP54 and further to this, the device which could aptly take the measurement in units of meters (mm), inches (in) and feet (ft), and the device should weigh less than 250 g.
In view of the prevailing situation of the underground coal mine, we offered Leica Laser Distance Meter (DISTO D110), which is perfectly calibrated to measure the distance at 60 m range, and comes with a deviation accuracy of 1.5 mm, plus additional features such as accuracy of +/- 5 mm, IP54 rating, which indicates the device is protected against dust & splash.
One more attribute is that the device is quite capable of generating the measurements of units within mm/in/ft and comes with a weight of 92g. The device becomes absolutely compatible with the AAA lithium-ion battery and with the charger.
The implementation of the Leica Laser Distance Meter (DISTO D110) with the compatible AAA Lithium-ion battery, the measurement of the coal extracts were made prolifically well and the entire device was quite efficient and the device got safe-guarded against any sort of explosion. Above all, the device was able to vehemently withstand the internal explosion.
