Low Cost Emlid Reach RS2 DGPS Being Used In Telangana For Land Survey

The solution

Over the years the Differential GPS has gained more popularity and acceptance among the surveying community as a more convenient surveying alternate to electronic total stations, but cost of ownership has always remained a challenge for surveyors and organizations planning to purchase them for their surveying and measurement application. India being an extremely cost sensitive market customers always look for more affordable alternates, this has paved way for newer Oem’s who have equally good instruments to offer at a comparitvley better price than what an established make instrument would be available for.

In this case, a licensed surveyor in Telangana was interested in owning a Differential GPS but had limitations in terms of investment he could make, recognizing this we have suggested the client with Emlid Reach RS2, which is among the most affordable Differential GPS available in India, Emlid Reach RS2 is an 172 channel Multi GNSS Dual Frequency Differential GPS which can acquire GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/SBAS and other constellations, can work on radio mode for around 5 Kms and around 50Kms or more in GSM mode, Reach RS2 can be used for both static and RTK surveying, is ruggedly build, can withstand climatic conditions, is an IP67 rated device meaning it is water proof and dust ingress proof. BARC, Visakhapatnam Undertakes Geospatial Survey Of Buried Utilities Using Geode GNS2

Introduction
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) was formerly referred to as Atomic Energy Establishment, is the premier nuclear facility in India, being headquartered in Trombay, Maharashtra. The establishment was founded by Homi Jehangir Bhabha who was an Indian nuclear physicist and was a professor of physics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). BARC was established as a multidisciplinary research program essential for India’s nuclear program.

The Challenge
The research center is known for its installation of underground cable which becomes instrumental to transmit the power and also communication. In order to do that, they used to mark while laying the underground cable either with the stone or on the paper map, which often led to lots of chaos and confusion. The management was earnestly looking forward to a third party utility which helps them to have better land marking and the landmarking once done can be used for future retrieval and reference too.

The Solution

The approached solution was to offer the GEODE GNS2 which is a sub-meter GNSS solution that gives the precise positional accuracy of 30 cm, and apart from the positional accuracy, they were able to store the points for future reference. Leica Icon Icb70 1 And DD220 Cable Locator Made The Survey For Buried Utilities With Much Efficiency

Introduction
The Public Works Department (PWD) often looks after the maintenance of water supply to the district of Diu, and Major District Roads (MDR) and Other District Roads (ODR) for Diu district. Apart from that they also handle the maintenance of government buildings with the inclusion of both residential and non-residential buildings.

The Requirement
The PWD was looking forward to a total solution and also the cable locator to do the city survey. They used to hire a contractor surveyor in order to conduct the survey, which the surveyor could very well do with Drones, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), Total Station, Chain Survey etc. But, the PWD was not convinced with the work output from the surveyors and instead wanted to do it themselves so they decided to procure the total station and cable locator..

Introduction

The Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) is a government-owned coal mining company in Kothagudem, Telangana. The company takes its legacy of operating almost close to 48 coal mines which come under the category of underground and opencast. These coal mines are spread across the 6 districts of Telangana such as Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Prof. Jayashankar-Bhupalpalli, Bhadradri-Kothagudem which are in Khammam.

The Requirement

The management of SCCL, wanted to have a hand-held Global Positioning System (GPS) and GLONASS High-sensitivity receiver with certain specifications such as accuracy-which is less than 3 meters, Display Size- 3 inches, Internal Memory of 2000-waypoints/favorites/locations of 200 routs. Track log 10000 points, 200 saved tracks, Data storage- 2GB, Position format – Decimal degrees (Lat./Long.UTM/ups), WATER RATING – IPX7 etc. The most important attribute is that it should be completely functional even during the harsh environment that is the reason it is suitable for the mining site.

The Solution

We offered Garmin GPSMAP GPS + GLONASS + GALILEO High-sensitivity receiver which is Premium GPS Handheld with BirdsEye Satellite Imagery Subscription having positional accuracy of +/-2m, Large, 3” sunlight-readable color display for easy viewing.

Solution

News of Indian fisherman arrested by our neighboring countries as these Indian fishermen crossed over into international water boundaries and often entering other countries water boundaries for fishing unknowingly have been quite common. This was happening as the fisherman often relied on traditional methods of navigation and fishing and did not adapt to technological aids available which could solve this issue being faced by them due to financial constraints.

The Indian government in collaboration with respective state’s who have coasts to their borders implanted a scheme where the govt. would subsidize the purchase of these marine gps receivers often subsidizing 70 to 80% of the value of these devices.

One such client we have worked with is Department of Fisheries, Andhra Pradesh who had taken it upon them to provide every fisherman within the state of Andhra Pradesh Coastal areas with a GPS receiver.

Based on the challenges being faced by the fisherman and cost sensitivity, we proposed them Garmin GPSMAP 78S which checks almost all challenges being faced by the fisherman, as the device has the following features.

Introduction

Larsen & Toubro Construction commenced executing one of the largest communication networks in India for Telangana Fibre Grid Corporation Ltd in the year 2019. The scope included the laying of 65,000 of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) as a part of the complete Optical Fibre Infrastructure Deployment in the state of Telangana. The purpose was to provide high speed internet connectivity across the state which gets initiated from its Zonal Headquarters right up to the homes via the mandal’s and Gram Panchayats.

The Challenges

In order to carry out the survey work in the field, the L & T was looking forward to a durable, waterproof 360 degree high definition camera, which would be able to withstand some of the harsh environmental conditions and a proper stabilization inorder to capture the best videos for references. Apart from this, they were also in the look out for devices which could be mounted on the rider’s helmet or can be easily fixed onto the rooftop of the car with ideally good battery life.

The solution

The solution we delivered to the client was the VIRB 360 which was the first of its kind in the market, with an ability to capture a complete sphere of high-resolution video, audio and even the images. The built-in sensors can be easily synced with GPS and GLONASS. Further to this, the device gets its customizations with other set of accessories such as barometer, accelerometer which could in fact help the organizations in taking 360-degree video, which could enable it to seamlessly take the entire survey in order to lay the optical fibre cables.

The Results

Introduction

The Telangana Fiber Project, has been one of the largest communication networks in India, which is comprehensively handled and equally executed by the Larsen & Toubro Constructions, which has been the construction giant in India. We offered the handheld Nautiz X 6 which is an ultra-rugged android phablet ideal for rough-and-tumble applications like surveying and GIS. Introduction

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is the civic body that oversees Hyderabad with reference to the overall administration and beautification of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad which has become the largest city of Telangana. The function of the GHMC is also to take care of the promotional aspects of most of the companies or organizations in Hyderabad with reference to placing advertisements on the billboards.

The challenges

In the past, the companies or the organization who have an intention to place their advertisement on the billboard have to go through a strenuous process of measuring the entire length of the hoarding before attempting to place them.

The process is accomplished by engaging a labour to climb up the hoarding and check the measurement of the poster with a measuring tape and then customizing the poster in order to make them fit well. (Sometimes while customizing the poster in the billboard, the customers generally used to pay the penalty for the excess poster)

The Solution

As the process became cumbersome, we defined a solution which could enable us to have the precise measurement of the billboard and the same was suggested by us to the GHMC with the introduction of a device Leica Laser distance meter which is abbreviated as DISTO™ S910 Pro Kit.

The device became a very handy tool for the user to use, and which measures the distance between two ends of the billboard much precisely and accurately (within the range of 300 meters), that too by standing in one location.

The added advantage of the device is that it can also be used for certain blueprints and documentation, calculation of the roof dimensions, and also to integrate the gathered data into Building Information Modelling (BIM) or CAD software in order to create 3D Visualization. The documentation helps to bring about more efficiency and saves valuable time and money. The device can help the user in retrieving the complete measurement pertaining to the billboard as it has got capacity to store 20 DXF files

Introduction

SVN Projects is a premier organization which is involved in the construction of buildings in Hyderabad, the company has its headquarters based in Gachibowli. The challenge
